We couldn’t have our traditional Christmas Lights Switch-On party this year, so we enlisted the help of our local schools and pre-schools to count us down to the Big Switch On 2020.
Watch our video here.
And guess what! Santa and his elves heard how brilliant all the children had been and came along to check it out for themselves!!
We want to to say a huge THANK YOU! to everyone in our towns this year. We have faced many challenges in 2020 and as a community we’ve come together stronger than ever.
For lighting up our towns we say thank you especially to John Griffin and the team at Ballybofey Florist who are untiring in their efforts every year. To the members of our Chamber of Commerce Community Employment Scheme who help to put up the lights and organise the switch on. To all the schools who took part; the businesses who decorated their windows and supported the whole community all through the year; to Kerry Doherty who filmed and edited the video and drone footage; Gerard McHugh for his photographs and Brian McElhinney also for drone footage. Thank you also to the businesses who allow us to use their electricity, and to McGlinchey electrical for making sure it the lights stay on.
Thank you to our sponsors: Donegal County Council, AIB, Bank of Ireland and B&S Credit Union.
As we go into the Christmas period, we remind you to Shop Local. Supporting our local businesses means supporting our community. Every euro you spend makes a difference.
Wishing you all a happy, peaceful and safe holiday season!
